I taught a class!

I taught my first lesson to Thai students yesterday. It was a bit nerve recking at first.. but I knew he material and I knew the pattern that I needed to follow, so it actually went very smoothly.

I taught for 43 minutes to a group of 6 Thai students all over the age of 40. It was an upper intermediate class so they were at the level where you could pretty much have a conversation with them. My lesson was a vocab lesson on "getting together" or "gatherings".

Overall the class went very well (in my opinion and he instructor's). I had a little bit of trouble explaining the last activity to them, even though I demoed it..... no one did the activity. They were supposed to tell a brief story about some experience at a gathering of the card they selected, but they ended up just defining the words to each other.. which I guess was pretty helpful in itself.

I will probably be teaching again on Monday or Tuesday. I don't know what I will be teaching or to what level. I think I find at least some of that information out Monday.

So far I have enjoyed the teaching, though I am still wondering if this is the same style of teaching that my school in China will want me to do.
